History

The International Daycare Center opened its doors on 03.09.2012. Infineon Technologies Austria initiated the project and are our cooperation partner.

From September 2012 until Febuary 2014 the children were taken care of in a temporary building and in early 2014 IDC was moved into a new building near Infineon. Since early 2014 the concept for the nature garden was worked on diligently, and on the 16th of May the opening of the garden and building were celebrated together.

In September 2016 the IDC building extended to accommodate two more kindergarten groups. Sonnenstahl is the sponsor and founder of IDC. Since 2015 the parent association is the sole shareholder of Sonnenstrahl GmbH and with the elected committee board determine the development of the organisation.

All parents are members of the association and can participate and contribute.

The involvement of parents in the parent association ensures continuous improvement of the performance and quality standards of IDC. IDC comprises of 2 nursery groups for ages 1-3 years and 4 kindergarten groups for ages 2–6 years. Around 130 children from 12 months of age to school age, from 23 different nations and with 25 different mother tongues, are cared for in English and German at IDC.

The current team consists of 10 English native speakers and 18 teachers whose native language is German.
